We are currently experiencing many requests for services from different victims of domestic violence. At the same time, we have developed an amazing dating violence curriculum for high school and middle school students that was recently approved by the Greene County School Board. Being a nonprofit organization our financial resources depend on the support of our community and friends. Your gift of any amount will help us protect victims and their children from the oppression of their abuser and help us equip our youth with the needed skills to prevent dating violence. This, in turn, can lead to the protection and prevention of domestic violence/dating violence and child abuse. Donate and help us break this cycle of pain and anguish for many families. Your donation will be well used and much appreciated! Thanks!
Domestic Violence is a Crime!
Help us eradicate domestic violence
ASafeHarborHome, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 organization which provides transitional shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children in the eight upper Northeast Tennessee counties. It was not until ASafeHarborHome, Inc. was created that victims of domestic violence who wanted to free themselves and their children from being abused had much hope and in most cases, could not fully recover from their victimization. Although, Emergency Domestic Violence Shelters have been available in the areas which we serve, these services are of short-term. As a result, many of the victims and their children return to their abuser. Once the family is back in the environment which they intended to get away from, their risk is higher and their hope for a better life is gone. ASafeHarborHome, Inc. is designed to provide these families with the financial means to live away from their abuser and to receive domestic violence related services on a long-term basis. We are glad to report that we are currently housing several victims who now have an opportunity to be free from abuse and become the best they can.
As part of the financial support for our program we have opened Charity Treasures, a thrift store, located at 112 Austin Street in Greeneville. Charity Treasures operates from the generous donations of gently used clothes, household items and much more. These donations are graciously given by individuals, families, organizations, churches and businesses. When we sell these items the result is twofold. We have some extra cash to help the victims we serve and we are able to sell at a low price. In turn, we are providing our community with the opportunity to save money in this economical turmoil. We must say that our community has been a great supporter by donating and by buying at Charity Treasures as we continue to serve victims of this horrible social problem.
Sometimes the victims and their children have left everything behind. Although, ASafeHarborHome, Inc. can provide them with a place to reside, many families have no clothes, no furniture and a list of their needs can be overwhelming for them. This is another way in which the generous donations of our community come into play. Through every ones’ support the return of dignity, safety, hope and peace will enhance the life of these families. Experience tells us that the communities that join hands in their efforts to solve social problems become not only safer communities, but they also become strong communities.
For this reason, we respectfully request your partnership in helping us provide the necessary means to help our victims of domestic violence and their children. Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering ASafeHarborHome, Inc. and its Thrift Store, Charity Treasures, as one of the recipients of your donations.

Research from the Bureau of Justice Statistics indicates that intimate violence is primarily a crime against women. In 1998 females were 75 percent of the victims of intimate murders and about 85 percent of the victims of nonlethal intimate violence. [Henneburg, M. (2000).
